    Alexa is popular, that is why it is referenced on a regular basis, and why it is so topical

    Unfortunately the system they have sucks,now if they could get their statistics to be accurate then they would have a great tool, as they have already the captured audience

    lol.. so hostile!! I would imagine they have some form of way for watching out for things like this.. but maybe not. I wouldn't take the chance of getting banned to find out.

    I have come to the realization that Alexa Rankings are 100% BS. I have been studying the way Alexa ranks sites, along with monitoring a number of popular sites, forums, and directories over the last 3 months. I am thinking of publishing the results of this study in my SEO Blog. I started looking at this because of the strange results I noticed with my own directory and a number of higher traffic sites I have.

    KingBloom as a for instance was around 10k at hits all time high with Alexa and as of today is around 42k. Now while Alexa shows a steady decline in traffic, we (from our own logs) have seen a steady INCREASE in traffic in the opposite direction. The "decline" with Alexa, if you reverse it, is almost an indenticle mirror images of the actual increase in traffic.

    I strongly question their method for ranking and the value with which webmasters put on the validity of their rankings as a result of what I have seen.

    I believe that because it is so easy to artificially boost your Alexa Rankings, that manual intervention takes place in an attempt to distort real traffic to overcome the obvious abuse of their ranking system.

    Don't put too much stock in Alexa Rankings. They are as far removed from reality as PR Prediction Tools.
