Alexa Rankings??

I've seen alot many sites which are just like 1-2 months old and gets about just 10-20 uniques a day aand they are like in top 100000 ??
how do you get your site in top 100000 ??

If those ten people a day all have the Alexa toolbar installed, then getting into the top 100K is easy.

 

Orrite so like on my PC if i install alexa toolbar .. i can get in top 100K too?

 

No but it would help.
Let's say about 2.5% of people have the toolbar (more in the webmaster scene).
So if you have the toolbar and go to your site alexa counts it as 40 unique visitors going to it.
Now get 20 friends to do the same thing... alexa will think your getting 800 uniques a day which should get you low 90k or so.

If you install the toolbar on your browser and you log in every day for a few months then you'll be in top 100k.

 

I think the whole Alexa thing is waaaay over-rated. I mean how can people place value on their site and on link exchanges based on Alexa ranking when it is so easy to manipulate

 

i got mine in the top 50,000 by doing that.

I also think people must be insane to even install that POS toolbar! You'll NEVER see it on any of my PC's.

 

Or just buy a booster for $2 and you can have whatever ranking you want

Agreed! Only toolbar I have ever used is Google's. I do use that cool little FireFox extension that gives you Alexa information if you so desire.

By the way, fellas. Alexa isn't an accurate measure of a website's traffic. Too easy to manipulate. You could install the toolbar on your browser and then save the following JavaScript in an .html file. Open it and let it do it's thing.

You could change the URLs to different sites you own to inflate ranks of all of them.

 

how about make a page which iframes all the sites for which you want to boost the Alexa ranking?

 

It might be important to add, that myself and others havent had an alexa traffic rank update in probably about a month now. Still dont know whats going on with that.... There is a couple of threads on dp about it...

I dont worry about alexa, their numbers are not accurate.
