One of my sites is currently 68,000 on Alexa. That is the best I've got and it is by far the best site I've made...so...I guess that is sort of accurate
Hehe!! Alexa rank and PR are useful if you are trying to sell links or blog posts. Otherwise they aren't all that relevant. Alexa is reliant on the visitors allowing cookies and having the Alexa toolbar or similar. It is easy to manipulate. I wouldn't put much faith in it.
Alexa is a tool .... and like any tool you use the result to make decisions. We all know the Alexa Rank is skewed and not as accurate as some people may think. If we can all get our heads around the fact that it is JUST A TOOL then we can use it to our advantage. I personally like Alexa... it provides me with a piece of information which I can use to make informed decisions. Its useful for comparing sites in similar industries... for example my site AdToll.com is aimed at primarily webmasters and as most of us know MOST webmasters use the Alexa toolbar. I would say that's a fair assumption. So... if we can make that assumption we can assume it is fair to compare AdToll.com to other related sites in the same industry receiving the same user demographics. I actually wrote a blog entry about the AdToll Alexa and what it means... might be worht a read - http://blog.adtoll.com/2007/08/22/alexa-rank-under-50k-an-indication-of-performance/
Alexa rank is based on the number of alexa toolbar users visiting a website compared to total number of alexa toolbar users in the world. It is a good way of comparing the traffic of similar websites. Many people rely on Alexa ranking to prefer advertisement on the websites. So if you have alexa toolbar installed in your browser and frequently visit your own website, even that will make your Alexa rank among top 1,000000. And to improve your rank further with real visitors, you may use the following services which improve the Alexa ranking for free: http://www.alexaboostup.com and http://www.choopy.com
