Has anyone noticed anything odd about some alexa rankings (specifically reach) today? (well, updated for feb 1st). Like... Rapidshare.com is showing a massive drop in reach at 0.31795% when they usually get 6%+. Shows that yesterday's rank is 149 (instead of their usual 11). Thats a big jump. Is this just on my side? :S A few websites seem to have been effected like this. I have been defending Alexa but this just seems a bit off.
Yup I got the same results - that's wierd though... first mass DP account hacking attempts PS try searching google.com There are drops for google, yahoo Yesterday | 1 wk. | Avg. 3 mos. | Change 0.3282360232055% | 24.145% | 26.5% | 5% Yesterday | 1 wk. Anyone know if Alexa had a possible problem with their servers yesterday? It seems rather unlikely to me for the visitors to drop A LOT yesterday of all days. (Saturday is when everyone is off work, etc.)
Ditto. My blog reach for that day became 0, yet I know for a fact it had more than that as my actual rank went up. Though it does not look good when someone sees a sudden dip in toolbar rank or a graph like this. hah.
Anyway, as long as I am not going crazy, I do not mind. I blogged about it out of boredom, though I do hope that they make a press release or a blog post about it some time or another. Their blog has been rather empty lately, not counting some random link love to a website.
Alexa is crap man. All guestimated. No real stats. I had a site that was PR6 and a 2 million alexa rating. I had a million pageviews a month and they showed me to have 4 a day.
Alexa Sucks Right now , sadly well yeah i still will try to rank high on it though im on the 300K top .. but i still want to rank higher so my site is worth more
True enough to both comments. I guess I am accustomed to Alexa, but then again not EVERYONE uses the toolbar so it is not accurate, I admit. This is just pushing it a bit, haha.
