Hi I know Alexa rank is not very accurate but I have always found it to be a relatively useful tool for working out the popularity of a site. However I have come across a problem, I know of a site that has an Alexa rank of 30K ish. However it is claimed it only gets a few hundred uniques a day. Has anyone come across something like this before ? do you think they have placed the Google analytics wrong on the page and the site is in fact getting much more traffic ? Just seem really strange to me ? Cheers Marx
here's my own experience with alexa. before i have alexa toolbar installed and my site have less than 50 visitors per day, but my alexa ranking is 250,000. when i reinstalled my OS, i forgot to install the toolbar. my site traffic increased from 100 t0 200+ per day but i was surprised when I saw my alexa ranking reached 1,300,000. So i installed the toolbar again, my site rank now is 1,200,000.
people could be using some kinda of alexa boast. I have a program that dose that. I moved my friends alexa form 1.5 mill to 700K.
