can any body help me to understand alexa graph ??

how can i check or estimate tentative traffic for website ??

Alexa rankings are based on people that install the alexa toolbar. Usually webmasters do this, so sites about the web rank higher than others with the same traffic. Generally though, since there are so few ways to check the visitor numbers on websites, Alexa is still used to some extent for selling links and stuff like that.

Just add a couple of points
A is known to be very in-accurate for rankings above 100k
and
Not very accurate for rankings under 100k in the A rankings

I think he means the Alexa Rank Graph sorted by Reach, Page Views and Rank.

i love alexa,
its good if you are going to sell a site or show off to your visitors.

 

AlexaToolbar = junkware/bloatware/spyware

IMO same for Google Toolbar

Thats why the figures generated from it are worthless

 

Alexa is not accurate, its based on how many people view your site or search for it from the toolbar and search engine but its still pretty cool to see how other sites rank against your site, if you're ranked high you can brag about it, etc. Also when you're selling a site its one way you can show your traffic as some webmasters really do care about the alexa rankings.

 

Install Alexa toolbar, use the most of time only IE with this toolbar (with firefox it doesnt work) and after a few weeks you will have a good rank, and so on.

 

I don't trust alexa just cause the fact that only hits of visitors running an alexa toolbar count.

Alexa is never accurate.

 

Alexa can be manipulated so easy it is not funny. I had my entire web team working on one site for 10 days or so. The Alexa rankings shot up!

 

Well what i heard was that by having Alexa tool bar and refreshing the site few 100 times would increase yr Alexa ranking.

 

There is Alexa booster that can help you with that. IMO alexa's toolbar/rankings are useless.. unless of course you're selling your website to someone. I am comfortable with G's toolbar; at least is doesn't crashes my computer.

 

If you get enough people and or bots with the Alexa Tool Bar installed visiting your site, your rank goes up.

At their web site.. Well you can check it anyway, but you cannot really predict it.

Bragging rights to absolutely nothing.... It's good for marketing fluff, and that is about it.

 

Yes, thats what happened with one of the sites I work on. We had a team of 5 or 6 peopleworking on the site and all were using Alexa Toolbars, and the Alexa improved drastically. And then decreased later on.. and we havent been able to achieve that Alexa Rank again

Thats what I also heard and read at a lot of places, but its not useful anymore. I think Alexa has improved their algo a lot recently.

Alexa Boosters don't work now. I tried it on a test site but it didnt work. I'm sure Alexa has found ways to punish sites using Alexa Boosters and other tricks to improve Alexa Rank.

 

Um, everyone says it only works for the people who have the alexa toolbar. I don't think thats true. One week I made my website refresh every 10 seconds with 7 browsers open and my website JUMPED BIG TIME in rankings. I was also getting minimum traffic(10 uniques a day at the most).
