Alexa Ranking - is the ranking data correct?

    Hi,

    I have a question regarding alexa ranking. I have 2 websites and both get around 600+ unique visitors daily. But my alexa ranking for both sites is ver different. One of is below 100K and the other one is above 250K.

    Is there anyway to correct this data?

    Please advise and share your experience if you also have the same problem.

    Alexa rank depends upon many factors like visits as well as page views too. That could be the reason of different traffic rank values.

    i dont think that 600+ daily visitor will get you below 100k in alexa
    where did you get your data.
    i prefer the cpanel stat like webalizer

    alexa ranking can be way off and no one should be using alexa ranking for forecasting or estimating traffic to any site.

    HHHMMMM... i have been using Alexa for all my sites traffic stats and ranking. and a lot of pr's are based on Alexa. There were previous threads in here that posted urls that were pr5's, and all of them were based on Alexa ranking, and everybody were happy and agreed that it was so. I have the lists with me, I copy pasted it.

    I am just curious to know, what is the basis of your conclusion? Can you please discuss further why you said that?

    Alexa ranking is misleading. You can even manipulate it if you install Alexa toolbar. Don't rely on it. Google Analytics is much more accurate.

    I have a site that gets 150 visitors a day and has a rank of around 100,000.

    Alexa's rankings aren't accurate, but they do give you a rough idea about how much traffic the site is getting.

    If two sites have ranks of 100,000 and 200,000 respectively, it isn't possible to say which one must be getting more traffic.

    However, if two sites have ranks of 100,000 and 1,000 respectively, you can assume that site with rank of 1,000 must be getting more traffic.

    alexa do give inaccurate data sometimes. my 3 month old site has a steady 5m alexa n never decrease. altough I notice there were considerable increase in the amount of visitor visiting my site daily :(

    Alexa ranking is based upon the views on browsers which has alexa toolbar / plugins, etc. So, it is not 100% accurate. Some people manipulate the alexa ranking very easily. So, you should not conclude to a decision based upon alexa ranking. However, it will help on some cases.
