Alexa rank worthless

I see people are realy looking at the alexa rank when they buy a website ore dont believe traffic because alex rank isnt good i just want to say alexa rank suck and is worthless its totally worthless dont just believe my word look at this blog with argument that will let you think indeed alexa rank sucks

the alexa rank will only get higher only if the people have installed the alexa toolbar to browser. So it is not accurate to count the real visitors without the toolbar

 

yea i see it before that alexa rank totally worthless ...because some of my site have over 1000visitors per day but that site is not include in alexa rank i dont know how it is possible.. and i know there are many people they are facing this problem

Alexa rank can easily be manupilated. Try compete.com and quancast.com for more accurate results. Their not perfect either but better than Alexa.

 

Alexa takes into account traffic from only those who have the alexa toolbar installed. That is why it may not be a valid measure of traffic. But how are Compete and Quantcast able to determine traffic of websites without the websites using an include file of their javascripts?

 

Alexa rank is good only for famous sites. Alexa rank doesn't matter for a small site.

 

It is only good when you are selling a site to a noob web master who thinks ranking in msn and alexa are worth something. If you are flipping sites then having a decent alexa would matter but having some sites under the 100k mark still didn't boost up my traffic any at all.

 

It doesnt command much respect from webmasters anyway, the importance alexa gets is hardly anything when compared with any other metrics. If you're looking to sell a website, the 1st thing buyer may ask you is ur analytics data or atleast awstats data etc.

 

Ya i have also this doubt in my mind from long time..., it's not accurate some times

 

Cant say alexa rank worthless, still many people give importance to alexa ranking. But i m not using alexa for ranking, generally i used google web analytics to trace my work.

I like Alexa rank in my sites.

 

I know as a fact Alexa ranks aren't accurate but it does give an estimation how much traffic a site gets. I have two sites of mine to compare with. Both get about 40 visitors a day, but one's Alexa rank is 600,000 and the other 1,300,000 when they really get the same amount traffic.

Alexa rank isn't worthless, but it is bullshit. It's insanely useful when trying to find advertisers interested on placing ads on your site, and same with Google PR. But other than that, your Alexa rank is really just a flashy number to show off to other sites and blogs.
