Hmm, interesting, how does alexa decide what to put in this field for your domain?

Is it fed by backlinks or outbound links or something?

Mine is 75,387, it's really worthless although the advertisers would love to see the smallest number from Alexa.

Why would you lure webmasters, just to improve alexa ranking? Does alexa ranking actually count for anything?

I would suggest to start advertising your site to get some traffic. The more traffic you will bring the better will be your position in Google also. As I noticed that Google counts traffic (although I have no strong evidence...).
