My alexa ranked jumped from 820k to 501k. I don't see any change in revenue or traffic. Are they reliable?
Well they have recently updated their algorithm. So i guess based on their new algorithm thats your alexa ranking.
Also it is too normal.You can jump by alexa toolbar and also you can turn back(to your old values) again
Yes they are reliable but it depends on your target market. Most people who d/l alexa bar are web marketers, seo's and web developers who wants to see their websites rankings in Alexa. So if you want to get the overall traffic of your site, depend on Google Analytics, it will give a much detailed report of your traffic data. just my 2c. cheers, ed
I have a site which dropped from 800k to 2 million - traffic count remained the same, and has increased, for 6 months now. I wouldn't worry too much about Alexa, it's just an ego tool IMHO.
AleXa is not accurate, its Called Aleaxa Dance. so don't worry about alexa , just focus on new back links and check your targeted keywords. Thanks John

It is better for Alexa to include multiple source to make its ranking more reliable to webmaster. Thanks toits new algorithms, my site's ranking also increases!
i also doubt alexa sometimes. my website www.coolwizardz.com receives 1,000 pageviews per day and its alexa rank is 184,473, but some time back, i saw a website which got only 200-300 pageviews per day and its alexa rank was in 5 figures. i know some difference is obvious but this much difference is huge.
I think Alexa higher than 20k are not worth talking 500 is not that Great but do try hard and u will do well. Take this as starting point now .. Best wishes
