I have a domain which is currently being parked but gradually building up some Alexa Ranking, it's got to 7,400,000 roughly. My question is does this mean the value of the domain has gone up as well? If so how much could I expect to sell it for? PS-as it's parked it won't get any Pagerank.
Alexa ranking should be less than 500,000 to expect something extra just because of good Alexa ranking. I personally see no difference between 2m and 20m Alexa rankings. Alexa is a reliable metric only for the first 500,000 sites.
Also historical data is not available for sites ranked above 100k. While Alexa is good to find out if a website is on the up and up, I personally don't feel it holds much for monetary value, since it's ranking can be easily toyed around with.
Alexa ranking is widely accepted by advertisers so it is very hard to rise the rank of your alexa.Try to get more backlinks to your website and you alexa rank will go up
Content is more important, I just broke a million on alexa with a site and it is 5 months old, my last site I broke a million in about three months. The first site was targeted with a video game that was coming out and I just made a lot of quality posts about it, my latest is an autoblog that was targeted at adobe users. Which is pretty competitive.
This site has been parked for only a few weeks and it's gone down by another 1 mil today so hopefully it may get to 500,000 in a few weeks or earlier the way it's going at the moment. Building quality content is not that easy - in fact it makes me choke when people say just put some quality content on it and it will do better - not that easy at all, unless one is prepared to spend money - my hands are basically tied down at the mo and I can only do the simple things for the mo and that's either sell or park my domains.
I never said it was easy, you need to have one of three things, money, content or links. all of the above will lead to more traffic. I see the domain is parked, i buy parked domains with pagerank all the time. I think that it only looses pagerank when it is dropped.
I know that in history I myself was responsible for bringing Alexa ranks of some of my websites down to 700,000 Ks or so just by working on them, doing design tweaks and refreshes. These sites were not open to public, promoted and thus never received any other traffic. What I am saying is, these may just be your own doing. You better don't get too much excited.
7,400,000 is still far aways to compete with , it you need to sell your domain for a good price, you need to put more effort on it or maybe SEO. Alexa only recognize within 200,000. More than that it mostly show that there a no data about your website.
question is it gets any visits to parking page and any revenue ? if not its just a waste domain bombarded with alexa bot
Alexa now gone down to just over 3m. It still feels good seeing it having been ranked by Alexia but I do agree to build real traffic I should take it out of parking and host it myself. I am going to use some freehostig for the moment, better than parking it anyway.
