Does someone with a traffic rank of 100'000 receives 1/2 of traffic from someone with a traffic rank of 50'000 ?
Only when there is a linear relation between Alexa ranking and UV , I guess that traffic decreases exponential with lower ranking. That could be the explanation when comparing your numbers with those of Hans

if you use adwords - then you also appear on hobby sites that never attract true high end customers and some of the clicks you are charged might simply be out of curiosity.

if you have a top 100'000 site list
then you may go and chose visually a few dozen or hundred of those sites that have a site-focus on YOUR product or service you want to market.

for example - sites with 20'000 uv/ day or more about car tuning / car accessories / car reviews aimed at car owners/buyers
and you have a valuable car cleaning product or accessory you want to market....
you most likely prefer to advertise on such a professional site focusing exactly on the precise market you NEED as potential customers.

a car owner / buyer ready to spend ten thousands of $ for his car - easily may spend the hundreds of $ to maintain or improve or protect his car ...

hence his CTR and conversion rate might be much higher than if his ad would appear in a few thousand blogger and other hobby sites out there!

from the global economy and marketing point of view there definitely is a difference between the few thousand or ten thousands of professional publishers with a precise topic and decades of professional experience vs millions of hobby bloggers and hobby publishers creating artificial / machine created or copied content just for the fun of publishing or even worst just for MFA.

that difference also might explain why SOME publishers have an eCPM and CTR around 2 digits or even higher while most hobby site owners are in the range of 0.5-2% for both a.m. values - MAYBE Google as well makes a difference between hobby sites and pro sites ?? if NOT YET then may be in the future soonest ....

web publishing / advertising is like printed ads
I remember decades ago ads in the world's leading SCUBA diving magazine was in the range of around 10'000 $ per page
while other hobby diving magazines could offer same for fraction - because that TOP magazine had global distribution and global recognition - any ad there had a much higher ROI and also a financially much better readership.
