    Now that alexa has changed
(for slow ones - again the link)
    http://www.alexa.com/site/company/announcement

    the question is:

how many real unique visitors do you have PER MONTH to get your current 3 months traffic rank.

please post uv and your average 3 months rank to compare or get an idea how accurate alexa now is.

    March 2008:
    468'466 uv = rank: 35'345

such data / traffic numbers are of NO value at all
as alexa publishes on their site since long - ranks start to become more accurate at 100'000 or better.

the request was NOT for "go figure" but for REAL and accurate 3 months average data

that means for people having a rank of 100'000 OR BETTER

you know that I am some 35 yrs into computer and some 11 yrs full time web publisher creating my own content all the way - make some 50+k$ adsense / 12month and most probably do it all by knowing EXACTLY what I do and why I do what I do .......

if alexa would have NO use for particular professional use, i never would waste one second or one single post on that topic !!

there are plenty of OLD threads on such subject. no need to waste time for repeat topics!

    networkad

your question is totally OFF topic on this thread. here its ONLY about the subject line data
but there are OTHER threads about alexa's announcement - follow the link in the first post

NONE of the last 3 posts had anything at all to do with the original precise question/topic of this thread.

It would be really professional to stay within exact topic of thread and to post ONLY if you HAVE both precise data ready to share. there are dozens, may be hundreds of OTHER DP forum threads about accurate or not accurate and all the other alexa related opinions and chit chat.

    Hans ,

Did you ask the DP owner already about his numbers ?

Your site has to be in the top 100,000 to have any statistical value

    1. re DP
this thread is open for all with VALID data to share, there is no need to ask particular persons/site owners. participating in sharing data is a free choice
the result of many accurate data would give an insight abut the new relationship between ranks and traffic - and thus about the new (possibly improved) accuracy of ranking.

    2. all professionals having data to share KNOW the 100'000 rule since it has since years been published on alexa site.

I don`t think Alexa`s particularly accurate, apart that is for the really big sites, Yahoo, Google, eBay etc. Their Top100 is probably an accurate reflection of how busy those sites really are.

Ive got sites with many thousand's of visitors who dont use fire fox and deffiantly don't use the alexa tool bar to add to my rankings LOL, alexa is not a good tool to gain rankings for me in this case.

since NO single poster on this thread has cared to stay within thread topic and reply to the actual question and thus provide the accurate data asked for,
I consider this thread as a failure and may be some of the mods may close the thread since there are plenty of other current alexa chit chat threads running.

    March Stats:

    UV: 77,847
    Alexa: 49,947

Interesting to see that I am only 10.000 places behind you with this website, but I only receive 1/7 of the traffic you do.

BTW. I checked the alexa list of 100.000 most popular websites. It costs $6,500

I don't know why someone would pay this much for statistical data.

yes thats an intersting point comparing our both data - but that's what I expected and thus I wanted more data.
about 2 or so years ago there was a site having a graphical display of data computed from several domains to show the difference of ranks achieved by many domains - there too we saw a factor 2-4 or so difference between different sites achieving similar ranks.

why some one would pay that some for a 100'000 site list is very clear

in adsense and other advertisement marketing the real mony ONLY comes from the top 100'000 sites and all others are for tip and postage only.
hence all those advertising servers OTHER than Google who use alexa ranks to select their sites - may purchase such data and then use the site-list to get valid email contacts to invite site owners from top xx'xxx sites to join their ad-program.
I usually get several such invitation based entirely on alexa ranks. for me it appears that the criteria for such invitation is in the range of top 40'000-50'000 in alexa rank

the alternative would be a massive Hundred million or more email spam to ALL site owners ... and yet the ad-agencies still had no clue about the site traffic.
advertising quality products on hobby sites makes no sense at all - hence the need and demand for such lists of top sites - top by traffic.

it is obvious that REAL companies or marketing agencies only are successful when having solid quality sites as ad-carriers.
just like in newspaper or other printed media ads.
thats why ads in "newsweek", "times", national geographic", etc cost thousands of $ a single ad.

compared to the huge cost of creating such a top 100k site list - the $6,500 $ is TINY.
    I make some 50+k$ / yr adsense
imagine I move to any other and make same or more - and a company paying 6,500$ for a list - getting 5% of the site owners signing UP making anywhere from 10'000$ to 100'000$ / year
all they need is just a few and that mini-investment is fully paid - much cheaper than any alternative method to get top 100'000 sites !

    Hans,

What is the advantage advertising on those top 100'000 sites instead of using PPC advertising like Adwords ?
