    It totally depends upon the website. There is no link of Alexa ranking with traffic .

    you are right, however both hits + alexa toolbar are needed to increase your Alexa rank...fast!

    i was able to improve an alexa rank (slashing 50K) by 500-700 daily unique hits.

    Alexa ranking itself, I think, is not very important, but if your site get more and more visitors, your Alexa rank will get better.

    Exactly it means there are 49,999 sites which are better than the site awarded with alexa rank 50,000 :). Of course from alexa point of view. Just to mention an example, I have a site which has totally around 5,000 unique visitors in last 3 months, and it now has alexa rank around 10,900,000
