My latest website is ranking really well in Alexa. I have several specific questions about this though. What would be an estimated amount of hits per month would a website be receiving to rank in alexa: 1-100, 100-1000, 1000-10000, 10000-100000 I realize that a page may rank really well in Alexa and might not be receiving a lot of hits right? Is there a ballpark figure though?
The alexa pagerank is calculated from data collected from surfers that have the Alexa toolbar installed in their browser. Basically it is a measure of your popularity relative to the other sites. You can drop in the rankings and still get the same amount of traffic that you always did.
Alexa is a search portal that monitors the web from its toolbars and other proprietary methods to average and follow the Internet's websites. It ranks website according to traffic. The lower the number the better. Alexa results are criticized often as Alexa only gets its value from the visitors that have the toolbar installed. Most average web searchers do not have this installed. There are also numerous sites that claim to help sites get better Alexa numbers.
Alexa is kind of a deceptive ranking, because it's only ranking a site based on people who have their toolbar installed. If your visitors aren't likely to have it installed, then you'll likely rank very poorly, whereas if a large majority of your users have their toolbar your rankings will likely be larger than they should be.
I have a very little knowledge about the alexa ranking. If any one can share more in detail about the alexa ranking I would be much helpful.
alexa provides toolbar for browser and with this toolbar alexa calculates the page views of website surfed by user after calculating the page views alexa gives the ranking on the base of page views of No. 1 website ....suppose the page views of no. websites is 1100000000 and the page views of ur site is 5000 then ur world ranking should be 1100000000/5000=220000 this a simple calculation of alexa world ranking ....
