Alexa "No Rank"

    Hey guys,

I work at a media company and we recently encouraged our marketing team to install the Alexa toolbar in order to track our efforts. Yesterday, we noticed that we were receiving "no rank" for all sites visited. Does this have something to do with too many users on a certain IP range? If so, how should we cut back so we can still use the toolbar. It's probably not necessary for all of us, but the toolbar is a great tool for the digital marketing people, especially.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Alexa Rankings are completely useless for just about everything except finding relates sites quickly. Ask 10 people walking down the street to name 3 search engines, and they probably can't. And the chance of Alexa being one of them is dismal at best.

Real people don't use Alexa, it's the domain of Internet Geeks.

Alexa delaying their update .. your site must be new.

This is true, however when you're heavily involved in link exchanges and website promotion to other webmasters, alexa does still count to a certain degree. When I head to a website and it has an alexa of under say 80k, I have a rough idea it gets some good decent traffic. Alexa of course can be manipulated but still provides some indication.

In response to your question MRyan, it can be that your website is quite new and that Alexa hasn't updated it. Give it a week or two, and try get some external IP's to visit it. If it's only from 1 IP, chances are you're alexa update will get delayed and you won't be slotted in.

Hell, even submit your website here and get 10 people to click on it. You should be good then!

    Good luck mate

To increase alexa rankings some points in my view are-

    1.download the alexa toolbar
2 .Put up an Alexa rank widget on your website
3.Encourage others to use the Alexa toolbar
    4.Write or Blog about Alexa.
5.post in social networking sites and try to increase traffic.
6.Do link exchange and get more traffic
