Alexa is publishing what people who visited my site bought at Amazon?

If you look at the traffic details for the domain below, it says

"People who are interested in merged.ca also bought:"

and then it looks like it cross-references Alexa toolbar data with Amazon shopping history. I don't see it on many other domains, including dp or wmw (the lists would be huge) but I did see it on revenews.com's listing. It is scarce and also pretty strange that they would mix the data like that as the relevant clickthroughs are probably pretty low.

Found Amazon.com products listed for one of my websites also.

    alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=antiquefurniture.us&url=antiquefurniture.us

To bad they do not use our affiliate ID!

An interesting find. I don't see it for any of my own sites, so I wonder what their criteria is for including this? Maybe it's something they're just testing, or you have to achieve a certain volume of sales first. I'd guess the latter, to keep the results more relevant.

They don't include any sites that are registered privately, without the address details in the whois. That way they don't get every site registered to all the John Smiths' in the world lumped together by accident.

The domain I first found it on (my own) is quite new and very low traffic. I'm not sure why it was 'chosen'.

Actually, they do! I always use private whois registration and Alexa thinks I own a wide range of sites including ChuckNorrisFacts (I wish!) to barely-18teens.com.
