I was wondering if anyone else is exepriencing odd Alexa numbers the last few days. My site is usually around 22,000. My internal stats show an increase in traffic this weekend, but my number was at 100,000 for Sat and Sun. Now, today, is says N/A for todays number indicating I am not in the top 100,000. How is that possible when my numbers are unchanged? Is it just my site? Here are my Statcounter numbers. Makes no sense to me. Any thought on this are appreciated.
don't trust that rankings... i get almost no traffic at one site and alexa says it gets like 2millions pageviews a day....
Why is it interesting to know how you compare to Google etc.? Check your sales/conversions/AdSense etc. No need to engage in a victicious race against others. Play your own game of webmastering.
Often I look at Alexa to check on sites that are not my own. In order to get a reference for analysis, I look to my own sites as I know what the Alexa numbers mean for my sites. I agree with you in that I don't care how I rank against others, it is only my own profit number I care about. However, when evaluating other sites, I think it is wise to look to 3rd party statistics. Seems everyone here thinks Alexa is worthless....is there another alternative?
If you have the money to spend... Hitwise.com can get you REAL data as collected by major ISPs. But it's expensive. That's the only one I know of.
Wow, Hitwise.com definately can provide some information. I think it is a bit more than I need, but thanks for that link.
