From the angle of a website owner who wants to compete against my competitors, and just because 'Alexa' don't say many people come through my shop door, doesn't mean for a second that the 'few' that do actually buy my products because they are good. A hot link and good description of my awesome products is all I want, none of this gimmick bull****.
I hadn't considered it from that point of view, but another minus-point of Alexa is the way it makes a lot of small to medium-traffic sites look bad. There are a lot of sites that don't attract webmasters so they don't register high Alexa stats, in spite of healthy traffic for their niche.
I never trust Alexa, well I don't anymore.. It shows fake stats, and I think it's just a simple mix-up, I had a forum which had great traffics, and a directory which had much more less traffic, the directory was showing much better traffic details, lol.
because alexa depends on whether you have alexa toolbar installed, and poeple who visits dir. are webmasters and hav alexa toolbar installed and maybe the forum was for non-webmaster ppl. just a possiblity
