    Hi,
I have seen some directories with the Alexa box, so I installed one at my Ask Directory, do you think it’s a good thing to have on the homepage?
The design of the box is not very sexy in my opinion.
    Cheers

Not sure if it's a good thing to have on your directory or not. I do agree that it is not very sexy. Is there a smaller option to let users know about your Alexa Ranking?

The problem is - it slows loading time down a great deal - it is a pox on your home page.

The other option is half the size but on my design I think this one blends best, I must search for a really small one if available.
By the way you are very sexy on that picture :D

    Negatory

    reasons:
    1. major slowdowns
    2. unattractiveness
    3. reminds me of link farms

Maybe try the smaller button that I see many use:

Definitely not recommended for circa 2006 sites, they had there day years ago and they have not moved forward progessively and have wild inaccuracies in data

Not appropriate for new protocols of data transfer and monitoring if you cannot provide AJAX or similar real time data then don't put it on your site

    imho

I removed the Alexa box, just to big to ugly to slow… and all people that are interested in Alexa have it already installed so it’s useless.

Just so you know I am working on a script for acquiring the Alexa Rank (e.g. 10,111,888) info, but it's being a real pain in the a$$ for me at the moment.

Of course it'll be integrated into phpLD and most importantly it'll look clean. :D
It's on dump, but i'm returning a zero value atm)

It looks dumb IMO. Those who care about Alexa enough to deface their directory are likely using one of those booster applications to game the numbers anyway. It offers no value to the site's visitors IMO.

Thanks man. unfortunately it took me 3hrs to complete the task. Sooooo frustrating. I was helping others while working too, which I don't mind, but it does slow down the train of thought :)

In the end I think everyone that is interested in Alexa already as the Alexa toolbar installed, but always good to have.

Your Halloween skin on directorydump looks kind of …… scary :D

If there is one toolbar I refuse religiously to NOT install, it's that alexa crap.
However, I see the trival importance quite a few people tend to put into it.

I just wanted to experiement, and it actually cost me more time that anticipated *ugh*

But anywho, eventually when I have my own site up and running (good one) I'll have all of my MODs readily available to download via a fee, because we all know time is money.

Yo anon, is there a place that I can get that "live stats" box, or is it proprietarily yours?

    Your layout is nice.
