Alexa back links updates

Not that Alexa really matters as a search engine, but I was just curious if anyone had any idea of how often they update their back link listings? One of my sites seems to have had 220 back links reported by them for the last 6-12 months. I sent them an email asking the same question, but have not heard anything yet (If I do I will post the update here).

    Thanks,
    Chris

Don't count on Alexa backlinks report.

    It's worthless and barely updated.

In most cases, when you click on "Sites Linking in" for any website to check the backlinks. you will find " 0% - 5% " of the reported backlinks listed.

Yeah, I think it is pretty worthless too, I was just curious as to how often they update it (if they still do)...:)

My site has been indexed in google for almost half a year now and alexa still doesn't show any links to my site.

Google & MSN both show over 4,000 backlinks for my site yet Alexa shows 2 and Google shows 3. :(

It is pretty useless. Google, Yahoo, & MSN are what matters.

not sure exactly how often they update their backlinks, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. Alexa is pretty worthless in my eyes. You won't see very much traffic from them so I wouldn't even really worry about it. Be more concerned with Google & Yahoo..

I believe they only show backlinks for sites that are tracked by them.

Hey, I just wanted to update my post as I received an email response from Alexa. Here is their email to my inquiry as to how often their back links are updated:

"Thank you for contacting Alexa Internet.

Our Sites Linking In (Links In) data come from our crawl of the Web.
There are a few possible explanations for cases where you are aware of
links pointing to your site and Alexa doesn't list them:

First, please understand that our list is not exhaustive.

We might not have crawled and indexed the links yet; we try to update
them every two to three months (about the amount of time it takes to
complete a crawl and get the data indexed and live in the Service), but
there may at times be an indefinite delay.

We also choose not to show links pointing in from link farms or other
    similar search engine placement mechanisms.

Finally, if there are links pointing in that exist on pages that have
no traffic, we do not show them. We prefer to show links in that are
actually being clicked. Because there are many sites on the Web that show
many more links in to sites, we feel that our users appreciate our
    emphasizing quality over quantity.

The best way to make sure Alexa knows about and will update your Links
In is to actually follow those links to your site with the Alexa
Toolbar visible. We then know not only that the link exists, but that our
    users are actually clicking it.

Please also note that the Alexa Traffic Rank is in no way related to
    Links In.

We appreciate your interest in Alexa.

    Best regards,
    Alexa Internet Customer Service"

Just an FYI if you are interested....:)

    Chris
