Will having a higher Alexa rating help with monetizing your site? Meaning if you are in the top 100k, will you be able to sell links or other ad space on your website for more money? I dont know if that question has been answered but if it does then I may start worrying about my alexa rating.

Some unscrupulous programmers sell tools that can inflate your ranking temporarily - this is not possible for the top 10,000 sites though. So any rating worse than 10,000 is not worth much in my opinion. Anything better than 10,000 is an indication of a very busy site - so I would say, focus on your site and let the Alexa rating come by itself.

Alexa rank is only good for people that use Alexa tool bar so it means noting cant share it or pass some on so its no good unlike PR that shares a part off to the site that linked there. So like Ockert said focus on your site not so much on the Alexa rank.
