Searching around I found this link here http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/filmime.com , where, as everyone can see, are 3 different PPC ads blocks, one from Google and 2 from MSN. From what I know this is against Adsense TOS, because it is not allowed to have in one page other ads blocks that are similar to the Adsense ads. Sreenshot: http://i43.tinypic.com/hv80v4.jpg
From what I see, all 3 ad blocks are for MSN. Perhaps that is because I am viewing that page from Canada. In the past Google was willing to make exceptions to their rules for large websites.
It looks like it rotates between displaying ads from msn, google and tribal fusion. Either the AdSense team hasn't noticed this yet or they gave them an exception because they are a big website. Google tends to suck up to any people/websites that are a good potential source of ad revenue.
question here. are those two blocks in the screenshot considered "similiar"? or how does Google consider being "similiar"? Thanks
I see two msn blocks, and one G block. But it's not against terms. Adsense allows other ad blocks as long as they are distinctly different from each other. Also, Alexa is a premium pulbisher. Not a normal one. They may be rotating ad blocks as well. That's why the person from Canada saw three adsense blocks.
Truth is google don't have any exact derivations to calculate the number of ad shown on a page. they have a time based algo. which run on the way the design and layout is maturing. Good developer can always find a way out of the google thinking. i suggest take on google thinking. not their implimentation.
Being a such a big company, I think they are allowed to do so. Surely, they are premium publisher of Adsense
