Selling Alexa 75K site with 25K page views a month

Selling my web directory, LinkingGo(dot)com. Alexa ranking has been reliably hovering around 75K for the past few months. Constant traffic. This site has never been monetized, and the "buy a featured link" module just went up. With this Alexa ranking and traffic of 25K pageviews a month, sky is the limit to monetizing it, either with ads or paid links. The PR is expected to increase with the next update.

I have done quite a bit of custom coding to the site, so you're getting all of that for free. Managing the site is a breeze. After installing a couple of anti-spam plugins, including Akismet, it's become even easier. The CMS system has an automatic option to ban spammers and remove all their posts.

Augst 5 Update: Google has just upgraded the PageRank for this domain from 0 to 1 during their August update, and the traffic has since increased 30%.

It uses Pligg, which is a very flexible article management system with lots of plugins available. The site has not been monetized yet, but it has a crazy Alexa ranking and people are submitting their links non-stop. If you set up a micro-payments account with Paypal, you could charge people a quarter or a dime per submission. Even if 5% of them pay, you'll still do well. Obviously that's only one of the many ways to monetize a site like this.

 

Do you have any traffic proof images? Where does majority of the traffic come from?

 

Yes, I have Analytics installed. The traffic is 40% India, then surprisingly 16% U.S., and then a mix of everything. I've been tracking people who are "liking" the site through Google+, Facebook, and Twitter, and even the Indian visitors seem to be working mostly on behalf of U.S. clients.

 

The buyer of this site just backed out, so it's back on the market. Best $xxx offer takes it.

I'm unfamiliar with the software (Pligg). Does this software have built-in functionality to handle the "featured links" idea. (You mentioned the possibiliyt of selling featured links).

 

Pligg was originally conceived as a Digg clone (hence the functionality to vote articles up and down) and then grew out to become a popular content management system. It has extensive plugins available, both free and paid.

The "featured links" window I quickly hacked myself by editing the default "About Pligg" window. It's pure HTML and can be done by a second grader.

 

Update: Google has upgraded the site to PageRank 1 with the August update.
