Alert when server is down.

Hi,
Is it possible to send an alert to an email ID automatically when my server is down. If yes how to implement this.

Thank you, there are lots available. Can you recommend something that you have used or know of. Human recommendation is far better than google.

 

I use Internet Seer located at http://www.internetseer.com. When my site goes down, it sends me an email. When it comes back up, an email is also sent advising me that it is back online. Best of all, they have a free plan that you can use (it's the one I use).

try site24x7.com - it's from the Zoho guys. Works fine and will send you an email everytime your site goes down, and up. That, and weekly reports.
