Good points to remember but still we live in a society where we have to look over our shoulders all the time, some sort of self defense is desirable. I know anyone who bothers me will not have it go his way......bring it on.

You can't lump any group of people, into one thing. Some may get turned on by resistance, some might get scared and run, some might get pissed and punch you in the mouth, some might not care and keep doing their thing. Everyone is different...... You can't just say " Rapists get turned on by resistance", That is like me saying, "people from india are smelly", because someone on the train who was from India was a little smelly that evening.
I agree. It exists for every violent encounter. The sad fact is that there are no rules. All one can do is prepare to react without conscious thought, with an action that is appropriate to the moment; and such ability takes training.

I would just get a concealed weapons permit lol, it is your constitutional right, I think more women should take advantage of that. Or get a big heavy handbag you can smack them over the head with. I dont think its very practical to tell someone never to go alone anywhere, are we supposed to change our entire life over something that could happen? I guess we probably should never drive cars because we could get in to an accident. Oh, gee, buses, planes and taxis are potentially unsafe, too. Maybe if we all get skates...that is if we aren't afraid of the ankle damage . Ok, obviously im being facetious, but how about just being aware of your surroudings, staying alert, not going out late in strange and dark areas - and using all around good judgment, this will definitely decrease the odds tremendously.
