I stumbled on this article which I thought was rather interesting. Apparently there is a big push on by Al Queda to spread their message of hate via English language internet sites. Apparently the number of Arabic language sites focusing on these issues has dropped from 1000 to 50 in the last few years as countries work to shut them down. It will be interesting to see what happens as the same governments focus their attention on the English language sites that promote or permit the permit the purveyance of Al Queda's message.
Really they ought to remove the sites, but will that be enough? - is seeing dead Palestinians and fellow Muslims along with invasions of their countries on Fox, CNN, MSNBC, BBC news not going to radicalize them?
Most sites are self censoring as it is right now. This site, for instance, will unquestionably ban you if you talk for any length about the fact most Islamic states have a high concentration of gay men. I'm not a fan of censorship of ANY sort, by the way, but what I suspect will happen is various countries state departments will "encourage" sites permitting Al Queda's brand of hate speech to be "self-policing". Aside from that, I have no doubt the feds have their own web crawler that hits on certain key words/phrases and busily collects IP addresses. Regarding the headline news, I suppose it depends what channel you watch. Link/Al Jezerra might leave you sympathetic. The western news networks you mentioned in your post fall more into the category of entertainment. Grab a box of popcorn and watch the predator missile take out a target!
You should post things like that under a proper persona like G W Bush or John McCain. I bet it feels good to actually say what you mean though
