AJ Auction Pro - Encrypted source code?

Have any of you folks had any experiences with the AJ Auction Pro software?

I'm thinking of investing in a single User License to have a play around with the code, add and tweak additional functionalities. However, after speaking with a "rep" on the official homepage, it seems they want me to purchase an Enterprise license for neally $3k to be able to do such a thing.

I was also told, if I wanted modications to the script, that THEY would do it as their single license code encrypted. I'm not entirely sure if it was a poor attempt at a sales pitch or if infact one is unable to modify a damn thing apart from the CSS?

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

Easiest thing is to check their website and see which versions come with the source code. Code can be encrypted to make it very difficult for others to read/ change it if they don't have the key (but it still runs fine and at normal speed)

i doubt they encrypt also the CSS and HTML, perhaps lite obfuscation, but i really doubt it, what they do probably encrypt is the system itself, if its PHP based, all the PHP code, most big commercial script vendors do it, its the only way to prevent theft.

yes, I agree with Reputation. Encryption is the only way to prevent their script from theft... It is quite normal with most popular software sellers.
