AIT Hosting has cheated me.

These AIT hooligans have cheated me of nearly $300 dollars. The money hasn't been refunded yet to my credit card account. I disliked their service and asked for a cancellation number. To confirm everything, I sent a reminder and one of their customer support executives told me not to worry. AIT has walked away with $300 and this has pissed me off. The bank says it will not be able to get the money back. Read the following:

    Registration Number: 2961929935
Plan(s): Dedicated Fire Sale Windows Pentium - 6 Month Prepay

Thank you for submitting your online service cancellation request number 20063150231108.

Please keep this cancellation number as a record of your cancellation of plans.

Plans will be scheduled to close on the 27th of the current month. Any plan or account closures submitted after the 27th will be processed the following month and will incur regular fees associated with those plans.

    Sincerely,

    Customer Service Department

I don't understand, did you already use $300 worth of service or are they cancelling at the end of the month and refunding 5 months worth?

Once you have it clear, you can do a chargeback and use their emails as proof.

    It's useless:
I disliked their service and asked for a cancellation on April and was given a cancellation number. To confirm everything, I sent a reminder and one of their customer support executives told me not to worry. Now after submitting the cancellation number to the BANK, the bank says it can't do anything about it.

In a way it's also good to be aware of the fact that Corporate Crooks exist even in the USA. Next time I'll research companies before purchasing anything and not go by the prices: $300 worth good lesson.

Oh by the way, they didn't even repay one single penny into my credit card account which means they have not refunded the amount for that month.

State Bank of India run by GE customer support. These guys too have wasted my time sending documents back and forth about the transaction dispute.

I have contacted my credit card companies twice over disputes with webhosting companies. Found that there is a limited number of days to dispute the charge. Even after having my account refunded one host charged it again. (Merchant has the right to contest the refund request!) Had to contact the credit card company again to finally get the matter resolved. Involved quite a bit of paper work and postage on my part.

If the bank rep isn't willing to help ASK for their manager!

Why not be more carefull with how you spend you money. Take responsibility with the use of you credit card. Might want to read the terms of service of the hosting first. Many do not give refunds after a certian point. If in the terms of service, the chargeback can be disputed.

I requested for a cancellation just 3 days after I purchased it. Yeah, I'm going to be more careful and I'm soooooooo pissed off, I'm getting pumped-up to do something that'll make for that $300

I'm taking a long break from forums and start something new apart from my usual SEO work.

    Regards,
    Dilip

You must be able to dispute. In card not present situations (as opposed to Point of Sales), customer is supposed to get refunded if he makes a claim.

Yeah AIT sucks, I was also at the receiving end of their sevice couple of years back. Foundout this site aitsucks.com after I have been cheated:(

You may be able to make a complaint via Better Business Bureau as well, (bbb.com). Try everything possible, dont give up.

Well at $50/month for a server, you should have assumed there would be no customer service. You still have not stated what the refund policy it. Doesn't matter if it's 10 seconds later if the terms of service do not allow it. You may just have to put this as a $300 learning experience on being more carefull where/how you spend your money... Keep investigating and see if you have a case to keep the chargeback going. Best of luck.

There has to be more to the story than is being presented here. I know AIT has some issues, but there is something missing here because your post just doens't make sense.

I agree, they seem to be agreeing to the refund - minus the month which you are currently in. As far as the length of time to dispute, I had Homestead charge me like $500 for hosting (I used them once many, many years ago but it was for a company which took over ownership, etc), saying I agreed to it 5 years previously.

I contacted my Credit Card company and right away they put a hold on the funds and I was able to prove they shouldn't have really charged me (They should have charged the company).

I don't think the fact that it is hosting has anything to do with it really.

Thanks for the moral support folks.

I have somehow managed to cool myself with some good news about a new venture. Next time I'll be careful.

    Visiting Aitsucks.com I see that I'm far better-off.

I wonder how these guys survive in the US market.

I'll keep a tab on the bank people. Yes, whenever my needs aren't met, I'll call for the manager.

    Regards,
    Dilip

Hehe, Indian credit card providers aren't as receptive to chargebacks folks. I called ICICI bank to file a chargeback for something which was grossly misrepresented online & their customer rep told me that they "can" only dispute the charge if it was fraudulent/I hadn't authorized it. I had to go through other channels to get this thing sorted out.

dilipsam, the fastest way to get a chargeback through to them is call SBI & tell them that this was a fraudulent transaction, in which case they'll consider your card to be compromised & send you a new card. But this will be fraud & lying on your part IMO & the right thing to do is to dispute the service you paid for.

    Sorry to hear your problems.

AIT truely suck. No question about that. I don't think there is any worse hosting company out there.

I had plenty of problems where the admins there were sabotaging my dedicated server (deleting files, corrupting OS) so that I can move out after I complainted couple of times of why my server kept going down. Horrible service and horrible company.
