Bharti Airtel :D has launched 16 Mbps broadband, the fastest wireline DSL broadband connections in India. The service will be initially available in Delhi - NCR, Chennai and Bangalore with coverage extending to Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata later.

The connection is available in two different plans: :)

Speed Combo 2999 - 16 Mbps speed with monthly data transfer limit of 20 GB for Rs 2999 / month($65)

Speed Combo 4999 - 16 Mbps speed with monthly data transfer limit of 50 GB for Rs 4999 / month($105)

Airtel had about 9.92 lakh broadband subscribers as of December 31st, 2008.

Anyone got this one till now??

IMO its damn costly and i am sure they are not gonna get good amount of customers for this service.

c'mon 20GB at that speed is a matter of 2-3 days max.
    India Need Unlimited :D

The Ad of this campaign is AWESOME! It's what I call brilliant advertising...

For anyone wanting to check it out -

It's in English btw :) So international users shouldn't have any trouble.

Personally, I did not enjoy the video. I think BSNL's Broadband advertisement was much better.

But the news of its launch did not affect me at all because its not for my area now, it will take long time to reach here I think.

i think Bsnls advertisement wasnt that cool as airtel one,
airtel advertisement showed younger ppl and was cool,
Bsnl shows some guys singing hip hop style about their 2mbps speed and prity zinta not much fun,

i think airtel should remove the download limit,
if i take that i will finish that bandwidth in one day and write dvds of the data :D,

Second time, I heard it with the mircophone, then I think its cool.

Am not sure about this - but 100 Mbps as in 100 Mbps speed or 100 Mbps LAN data transfer rate?

No its not the LAN rate. Its the actual internet speed.

    ^^

Thanks for that but I wasn't referring to the OP. I was merely replying Roofis.

So the oversmartness with the bolds and the capitals wasn't really needed :)

I can't believe it. 2 Mbps with unlimited plan for Rs.1220.00. I would take their service if they operate in chennai.

Oversmartness? I just made them bold/ capital to make it clear. Not with any intention to outsmart or mock any member here.

5net over at Ghatkopar/Chembur/Navi Mumbai offers similar plans as well.

There are a number of small ISPs in India with amazing broadband tarrif rates. These guys are little known primarily because they deal with limited areas.

Yeah 100mbps lan connection and about 12.5 Meg/sec transfer rate-downloads running
from Ethernet :) though 100mbps per second internet download speeds are possible in
    my neighborhood; http://www.charliesblog.com.au/post.php?id=56
