    Looking for an airline reservation system, where passengers can book from front facing site and administrators can manage everything from backend.

    Check out Magento Commerce. Magento is an open source shopping cart.
    As i can remember there is an airline reservation system as a paid extensions.

    hmm - I'm not seeing any module mentioned when I type magento and airline into google ... if you have a link that would be great :)
