I'm a modest kind of person, when I started my sites my goal was not to earn $100 a day but to earn $1 a day and then when I hit that I will update my goal to something like $5 a day. A few people have said that this is not a good idea and that I should be looking to set my goal much higher. What do you guys think? If you were in your first month and new very little about Adsense would you aim really high or would you start with a modest goal like I have?
if you start at zero (with a brand new page..), 5 $ per day is a realistic goal, because even this few bucks require lots of work
Dean, You're the type of person that will probably have a better chance making $100/day compared to 98% of the people around here. The problem with them here is that they sit and expect to be rich 3 days after creating their mesothelioma blogs (for humor I'd post 2-3 humorous links that I've seen in the past week alone here, but its 3:48AM). If you start with a NEW website--fresh reg, 0 traffic, organic traffic hasn't kicked in yet domain/website, $1/day is a VERY good goal. I expect you can get to $1/day with enough promotion after 2-3 weeks. After those 2-3 weeks, try bumping it up to $3 (once you're at $1/day, things don't seem as hard as before, plus now you've built up some traffic--optimize it). Give $3/day 1.5 months and see how that works... by now you might've already been over $3/day--but the point is to not expect big if you don't have a big website. If you own something like Cars.com or Apples.com, EXPECT huge... but if you're starting out with a fresh reg you will have to build traffic which is complicated without a formula. Hope I made some sense. I think it's super smart what you're doing... Read around this section a little bit for some inspiration/laughs. Kids create copy-pasted websites in 5 minutes and 30 minutes later come asking why there is no traffic or $$$. If you need any help, just let us know!
