Ok so I have a multiplayer gaming site and I am currently getting around 1,000 unique hits a day, the thing is I want to be aiming alot higher but I am not sure the propper way to go about getting more traffic without paying lots of money out. Any help would be much appreciated,
You could try holding contests to get more people to check out your site and sign up if you have a forum.
get higher ranking in search engines by doing SEO Look at how I seo optimize my website. also, post your website in your signature (once your restrictions as a new member are gone). If you dont have a forum, add a forum and create a community. That creates loyal visitors. 1000 hits a day is not much at all. Maybe you mean 1000 unique visitors a day which is A LOT (at least for me)
Without paying any money and getting the most traffic is by SEO. I have a site with weekly 30.000 visits/weekly from google. Try to get link, from good ranking sites. That is the best way to have a good ranking in google.
Submit your site's information on high traffic sites/directories. Put a content in which it can get much traffic (events, promos, etc.). Also, try to digg your site or simply del.icio.us
Yeah, social bookmarking would definitely help here. It's just getting a newsworthy story that might be a problem. Try to create some controversy based on a current event and build that scenario into the game? Hmmmmmm
