Aiming Efforts Toward Yahoo over Google

Do you think that it is a good idea to optimize for Yahoo or even Bing traffic. I know that both search engines get considerably less traffic than google, but they still do get a considerable amount every day. I am saying this because most people do not optimize for yahoo or bing, so wouldn't it be easier to get a top rank there than with google?

I think you should do SEO and try to optimize for all search engines. That's what I do anyways, and I get a decent amount of traffic from Yahoo and Bing.

 

It wouldn't be easy just because most people don't optimize for Yahoo.

 

SEO is never easy. You have to work at it. But your efforts can pay off with the results of more traffic and more conversions.

 

But why would it not be any easier than aiming your efforts towards Google? There has to be some things that you can do that are good for SEO in terms of Yahoo and not Google. These would be things you could take advantage of to rank higher in the results. Is that possible?

 

Give consumers what they want .. quality content ... and Google, Yahoo, Bing and every other search engine will love you. We need to stop building thinking about the SE's when we build our sites, and start thinking about the people we're trying to reach.

Imagine you're called upon to sing a love song to your wife/husband/whoever and Simon Cowell (from American Idol) was there. If you try to sing to please him, your loved one would surely know.

The search engines are not only a critic of our content, they're a rewarder, too. I built a site for a pest control company and only two pages had unique content. The other 8-10 pages was 99% duplicate content. (I changed the city names, to personalize it for each page.) Because it was quality work, the original AND duplicate content was indexed and ranked in the top 6 positions of page one of Google.

The customer is getting leads and i got paid!! So, give consumers what they want, and the SE's will reward you!

 

Wait so you are saying that Google didn't even punish you for using duplicated content? That sounds very unlike them...

 

Google will penalize a site for duplicate content. With all the Panda updates, and the Penguin updates, I've actually found it easier to rank with Yahoo than Google.

 

So what have you done that helps you rank so well with Yahoo? Also, I do not have any duplicate content on my site, so shouldn't the Penguin update help my site out? The thing is I heard that Penguin was going to destroy smaller sites, so I really do not understand how this is all working.
