According to 2600 Magazine's oldest issue in print, "Ahoy!" is how Graham Bell greeted everyone on his 1st test of his invention: the telephone. My name is Jose Fonseca and I am a software developer and occasional webmaster from Brasilia, Brazil. I've been a lurker for a long time, and this is my first post(I think). Thank you all for the great info here, thanks DPoint staff for the many tools you've shared with us; specially this forum and all the info in it. My favorite language is Perl. There are few things I like more than talking about Perl. I've just given up my czarship of the Brasilia.pm Perl Mongers group(because I could no longer find the time to organize all the beer) and I really miss talking about Perl. So if there's anyone out there I could trade Perls with that'd be really neat. Nice to meet you all and I hope I can contribute to this forum half as much as you all have contributed to my job (without knowing it). Best wishes, Jose
Ahoy Jose and welcome to the Digital coal face. The chap who invented the telephone was Scotsman Alexander Graham Bell and most people believe the first thing he read was the nursery rhyme 'Mary had a little lamb'. I think we'll forgive your debut nerves. You'll find lots of people around here eager to help so just shout if you've got any probs.
