For the amount of knowledge about our country and political system that Ahmadinejad has shown he possesses in the past, I find this to be a bit of a blunder on his part. He has to know that Bush can't run again, and that no one else from his administration (heh, of the few who haven't already jumped ship) is running in the election.

I can't speak for his intelligence, but he is certainly, at least normally, well informed. When 60 Minutes (I believe...) did the extremely long interview with him at his presidential compound in Iran, he showed himself to be very well versed in the American political system, American history, and just our country and its population. So this is a break from his normal character, and it's probably just for political reasons.

He likes to counter a lot of the actions of our country and Bush; Bush denounces Iran for possibly seeking a nuclear program, Ahmadinejad denounces the USA for having thousands of nukes. Our country questions the legitimacy of Iranian elections, Ahmadinejad offers to oversee US elections to ensure legitimacy here. He probably knows full well that our system disallows a third term for Bush, but at the same time, he's banking on the majority of his people not being so well-informed and it also boosts his popularity for standing up to the big, bad United States.

That's my guess, at least. There is no way, at least from what I've seen, that Ahmadinejad truly believes this; he purposely puts people around him to make him as learned about America as possible.

Yeah. He just wants to antagonize Americans. You would think he would stay busy stoning helpless women, confiscating beloved pets and bragging about how he will destroy Israel. Guess not.

Not sure about that. Ron Paul is my favorite potential candidate. I hate Ahmadinejad. Hate is a very strong word I know. I started hating him when he declared dogs un-islamic and started promoting cruelty to animals. I think I know what you are talking about though. Ron Paul saying he would not vote that Ahmadinejad violated the 1948 convention for crimes against genocide. They were basing this on the statement Ahmadinejad made about wiping Israel off the map. Ron Paul said these statements were quoted out of context. I do not agree with Ron Paul on this, but he is just expressing what he feels. I also am not pro-life either and still like Ron Paul. I guess you could say I agree with him more than the other potential candidates. Ron Paul does not believe the government should be like a dictatorship to it's own citizens. He would not approve of Ahmadinejad leadership. He probably just wouldn't get involved with Iran, and concern himself with improving the US. Is there something else you are referring to?
