Is anyone else seeing googlebot visiting excessively. I had 6000 hits on a website yesterday and looks to be even more today?

We were seeing up to 70 requests/second from Google on Friday. Rare for it to burst that high but it was as much as we can handle. We're sure that in a contest between our servers and Google's spiders, they're going to win.

Do your pages change very much?

Everything I'm reading says to have some content changing regularly. See people using weather, stocks, etc.

Get some links to your site with, lets say from a pr3/4 site, G spiders those sites often. Your site will be indexed quicker.
Your forum already has 94 pages indexed. Give it some time.

If your site is not indexed I see no point in changing the content a lot, no spider is picking it up anyway.
Get into the index/cache first then start working on quality content. I don't believe weather is quality content.

Depends on what else is on the page but yeah, I tend to agree with you.

We designed for an 800x600 (well, we did, then we gave up on the 600 part) screen and that means no room for stuff like weather.

It's truly tough to find good, relevant changing content.
