Age of a directory.

As most will see from my sig I'm editing The Orange Pages. Here's my task.

The directory needs to be repopulated, possibly for a script change who knows who cares.

It's over 5 years old and never been promoted, should I and how do I, not PR chasing, so PR chasers seller need not repsond.

I'm at loggerheads with the gaffer, he thinks, give the money back if it fails a review, I'm of the mind to say no but advise the submittor of the errors preventing the listing.. What's the right way?

Finally, does the age of the directory count for anything as I don't see any timewasters submit only real people and SEO's. Enlighten me.

I personally say as long as you have clear submission guidelines and state that bids are not refunded. Then if they fail they are not returned. But that is your call. I specifically state in my TOS that if you have a question about whether or not your site will be accepted to contact me prior to submitting..

But I think it is your call as long as you are consistent and the requirements are clear and available for everyone.

I think its not the age of the directory, its the trust it has. Will my money be re-invested? Will you always work hard on the directory? How many other submitted? Does it only list quality sites? Does it rank high?

those are the things i consider..

Nice answers and I can say yes to all. The OP has been going years and it was only due to a script hack it went tits up. My remit is to rebuild with some other the old dbase and invest like stink in marketing but I repeat, not PR chasing. So no it doesn't rank high for PR but for our chosen keywords its top 10 out of probs 60 million plus sites. When I market it that will jump as we will be putting our faith and money in trust rank as well.:)

Will I work hard? Shoot yeah, I'll get fired if I don't.
