Hi, Question - does anyone push the lower price products on Amazon in order to qualify for bigger commissions on the higher priced products, or is this against TOS? I have a niche site, I swapped links over at the end of October and had 68 sales and 1 refund so far this month, but a lot of the products I sold are not related to what my site is about, I'd say about 10% of my sales are books. However, the price range of the product I sell is between something like £15 up to £140 (going off sales so far this month) My sales are legit, I currently qualify for 6%, and hopefully I can get to 6.50% by the end of the month, something like 32 sales to go I think in 6 days is probably going to be tricky seeing as I only started at the beginning of November, I could probably hit that target if I was 2 months ahead. What would happen if I used the tactic of selling books just to make those sales (due to conversion rates) to reach the required amount of sales for a percentage commission increase, does Amazon allow this? I know the commissions are bad but with the extra % rise you would make it up with your bigger commissions, sort of using the two hand-in-hand. I would also think that the conversions are great if you are promoting a £3 book. I get all my traffic naturally, I dont use PPC and it would probably take me about 2 hours to create a mini-site to generate traffic to 1 book product (or a series) which I can then use to bump up my commission levels. I hope this makes sense TD
Nothing..... You can build a mini site about any book and have a go with it.... http://www.twilightmovieandbooks.com/ Waiting on my header... but as it is now I am making sales...... Headed for 7% this month !!
you can definitely do that. amazon doesn't care if you're pushing high priced or low priced items, as long as it's their items.
No, THOUGH... they have been known to stop paying commissions on certain products that are selling TOO well. Wii stuff, was a recent example, wasn't it? And the whole thing with coupon sites a couple of years ago. So there IS a precedent for them clamping down when a site or product line is not bringing them value. But generally I think they are just happy to have customers sent to their store...
I don't think they've reduced commissions or banned Wii stuff.... i am making a killing with Wii Stuff..... I made $437 on black friday in orders.....
