I'm going to be doing a major layout for a new webmaster forum. THe owner has asked that there be a "stumbleupon exchange forum", but I'm not sure that I should. I realize that DP made a rule that no one can do stumbleupon exchanging, but I do not know why. Will there be problems if this section is at my forum?
If by US you mean webmasters, then yes, it is good for us all. However, if you add in the average stumble user to US, then that changes the answer drastically. Stumble has added Captcha to their reviews page. This is to help stop automated submissions. They are nofollow, that is to help stop exchanges. I am guilty of stumble exchanges myself, in fact, I've started a few threads to do it, so I am not above what I say... but I can say that I have stopped doing such things as I started to use stumble as it should be used... as a SOCIAL NETWORK not a means of generating interested traffic for pages that would not have otherwise made it into the mix. If such things continue, then you can bet that more and more sites will be banned from the SU network, and eventually members doing such exchanges will also be banned. I think that a board specifically for Social networking & Bookmarking would be a fantastic idea! However, I would push away from the exchange aspect and maybe try to help get webmasters to utilize the social scene as it should be used... Encourage people to use things like ADD THIS or teach people how to add in the bookmark buttons to their pages... but don't encourage exchanges, as in the end NO ONE will win. And as for it being against the law, then no, it's not... however, it is (or will be) against the ToS of all social networks
