Americans should learn from Iran that bringing religion into politics is the worst thing for a country.

thanks ly2 for writing something i can agree with. that is the total stupidity of the iranian regime, which cannot resist the temptation to penalise it's people for the most ridiculous of crimes.
i heard a story about a visiting european diplomat who arrived at a meeting with some top iranian brass only to be told that he could not wear a tie, because a tie is prohibited in iran, of course the diplomat laughed and would not remove the tie, announcing that it was a completely unreasonable request.
in the end the iranian brass saved face by holding the meeting in the corridor rather than the main conference room!

 

Iran's leaders think everything is "western propaganda". From haircuts to dogs.

 

the thing is i know some iranians, and they are a remarkable people, everything the iranian regime tells them to do they just go and find a way round it. everything is available on the black market, and they throw these private parties where anything goes - literally. so if the government has clamped down on the keeping of poodles etc., i should imagine the iranians will just become even more determined to smuggle these pets into their homes.

 

I know. My bosses wife has a friend that goes to these secret parties. She flies from the U.S. to some European country, Amsterdam I think. Then flies into Iran and goes to these secret parties.

The women all get dressed up and put on makeup, then sit in the living room with the blinds closed. lol

 

Islam is not a religion like the thing iran lives. I'm muslim and in our religion the things that they did normally prohibited. But they are bastardizing islam by doing this thing. By this way they are making islam as a I'm living in turkey and %99 percent of my country . And we don't have such things. We are lliving islam in modern way.
So don't generalize all of thing to all muslims.

you are quite right iranians are not committed muslims, despite all the propaganda. still, i don't think that this detracts from them as a nation, and judging by the mess this world is in due to religion i think we could all benefit from a being a little less hard line. and anyway the suffering inflicted upon the iranian people by so called muslims would be enough to turn any muslim off islam for life.

 

It is insulting to islam. To be honest, I try to insult islam every chance I get. . Religion is bad, islam is worse.

 

That's what I thought. What is the populations majority religion in Iran? Is it a docile version of islam, or something else all together? We all know the leaders of Iran are hardcore muslims, but what about the population? A little bit of everything?

you really should not be so judgemental of muslims who you feel are not adhering strictly to islam. i know some strict muslims and lapsed muslims and it doesn't matter to me how many times they pray or if in the case of a woman if she wears the hejab, what matters to me is if they are good people, and by that i mean people who tolerate all faiths and are considerate of other peoples needs and limitations. christians, jews, atheists, muslims, hindus, buddhists, sikhs, sorry if i forgot any other group, but they are all the same to me, whether they follow an organised faith or a disorganised one, i only ever judge a person on their merits.
