So what does FGM has got to do with Shariah? You are talking about something totally unrelated altogether. Why am I not surprised?

    Status of women

Domestic violence is not dealt with by many police in Egypt. Also family law is traditionally based on Sharia.

[29] According to a report in the British Medical Journal BMJ, "[t]he issue came to prominence...when the CNN television news channel broadcast a programme featuring a young girl being circumcised by a barber in Cairo. ...Shocked at the images shown worldwide, the Egyptian president was forced to agree to push legislation through the People's Assembly to ban the operation.[30]".

Despite the ban, the procedure continues to be practiced in Egypt and remains controversial. In 2006, Al-Azhar University lecturers Dr. Muhammad Wahdan and Dr. Malika Zarrar debated the topic in a televised debate. Dr. Zarrar, who objected to the procedure, said..."Circumcision is always brutal...I consider this to be a crime, in terms of both religious and civil law". Dr. Wahdan defended the partial removal of the clitoris for girls who Muslim doctors determine require it, saying it prevents sexual arousal in women in whom it would be inappropriate such as unmarried girls and spinsters. He cited Muslim custom, Islamic law, and a study reporting that the procedure is a determinant of chastity in Egyptian girls. He also blamed the controversy about the procedure on the fact that the, "West wants to impose its culture and philosophy on us." [31]

The ban was controversial in the medical community as well. In the debates leading up to the ban, a gynecologist at Cairo University, said that "Female circumcision is entrenched in Islamic life and teaching," and, "called on the government to implement training programmes for doctors to carry out the operation under anaesthesia. Another doctor reportedly said, "If my daughter is not circumcised no man is going to marry her." Other MDs opposed the ban stating that the, "trauma of the operation remains with the girl for the rest of her life,..." the argument that the procedure prevents women from "moral deviation," and argued that it is not, "a legitimate medical practice, and when it is conducted by untrained people it frequently results in infection and other medical problems...

Making it impossible for women to orgasm is sickening, and this is what they're doing. They rape women, including their wives, which awins/menj claim is not rape because they're married - so forcing sex on them is FINE. (Sick mother fuckers; rape is rape.)

The overwhelming majority of women cannot climax without clitoral stimulation; this is a fact. The number of women who can climax from penetration is thought to be less than 12% based on a study from, I think, 2006 - it may have been 2004 - I can't recall where I was living at the time it was published, only that it was prior to my moving to Sydney.

Maybe if Muslim women could enjoy sex and not get sexually mutilated, then husbands would not need to rape their wives, as sex would be enjoyable for both parties rather than a duty for one?

Female circumcision serves no purpose and has no positive effects whatsoever - at least male circumcision has plus points >.<'

Picking and choosing certain articles from Wikipedia to fit your POV, when there are other articles which actually refutes your own claims, isn't helping your case at all.

In Egypt, mufti Sheikh Ali Gomaa stated: "The traditional form of excision is a practice totally banned by Islam because of the compelling evidence of the extensive damage it causes to women's bodies and minds."
    (Source)

In March 2005, Dr Ahmed Talib, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia at Al-Azhar University, stated: "All practices of female circumcision and mutilation are crimes and have no relationship with Islam. Whether it involves the removal of the skin or the cutting of the flesh of the female genital organs... it is not an obligation in Islam."
    (Source)

A detailed explanation in the very same source that you claim you are using.

It is more accurate to say that your ignorance is the "abomination".

Yapidy , yap . Your gargling and all the gargling in the world won't change the fact that 95% of the Egypt's women had their clit cut off and sometimes even more .

A young girl screams during her circumcision. The families of 248 girls were given money to have their children circumcised in a mass circumcision celebration timed to honour the Prophet Mohammed's birthday. The World Health Organization has deemed the ritual unnecessary and condemns such practices.

And Moslems think this is the order of God!

Moslems this is the work of Satan not God. Wake up, start thinking what makes sense and what does not.
Otherwise you'll be living worse than any other group of people.

Well I don't have my "clit cut off" and FGM is certainly prohibited in Islam, as from the fatawa cited above. So I don't see your point of trying to blame the Shariah law for this. If it happens in Egypt, then it is because of the cultural context (where such barbaric practises do happen in various parts of the world, not just Egypt) and this is not because of Islam.

I am not from Indonesia either, so what does this have got to do with me? Plus, where are you pulling such figures from, without citing any reference?

    Here's FGM in Indonesia.

    http://www.viiphoto.com/showstory.php?nID=676

Although I am not sure how many percent of girls have been mutilated, you and the girls who have been circumcised all share one common fact.

    Muslims.

Obviously you did not read my posts above where I stated clearly that I have never been circumcised and that there are several fatwas against FGM. If other parts of the world are practicing it, it has nothing to do with Islam. FGM is also widespread in Africa, and a majority of them are not even Muslims.

I never said you were circumcised and those pictures pretty much explains that Muslims are still doing it even if there are fatwas against FGM.

So Awins (or Menj), what do you make of this quote? Obviously, you will only say that this is just bull but I'd still want to hear your thoughts on this one.

Then how do I make out your sentence, where you said:

....how many percent of girls have been mutilated, you and the girls who have been circumcised all share....

FGM is against Islam and it happens anywhere in the world where the people are not educated about it. Nothing to do with religion per se.

You misunderstood me with my post, I wasn't including you with them.

I think that this is just all about Religion, how many non-muslim females have undergone female circumcision? How many muslim females have undergone female circumcision? I'd bet that muslim females would OWN at least 95% out of the other 5% for the non-muslims.

I am not Menj and do I look like I have a dick? Pffftt.

Sure doesn't look like that to me, and where are you getting such figures?? The top countries practicing this in Africa are Burkina Faso, Central African Republic and Côte d'Ivoire. None of them are Muslim nations.
