I think the title of the question probably tells us all :D

For a very long time I had my account up with my ads but I never "Enabled" the ads  lol. Funny I know.

Well my question in more detail is, I currently have a whole bunch of weight a total of 275,400 I'm guessing that's a prety big number

How long do the ads start showing up after I enable my ads?

Any help would be greatly apprecaited :) thanks.

Up to 100 hours before it filters through to all the sites in the network apparently.

    Nice weight!

The ads show instantly. Requires up to 100 hours for full deployment (and removal) because of the caching mechanism.

    Hey guys,

Me again, just wanted to see if I'm doing anything wrong. It's been much more then 100 hours :) and my ad's haven't started showing as of yet anywhere.

What i'm doing to check is on one of my sites i open up the ad network txt file and do a search for one of my sites. Wasn't able to find any of them in there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might not see your ads anywhere when you randomly check the other sites. But you can check your logs for the referring sites. ( that will tell you new links generated ;) )

Also you can do link:mydomain.com in msn .

As tuning says, do a link:mydomain.com on MSN. This is the one way (reliable) that I use to ensure it's kicked off properly (in fact, I think I see another application for the tracker script here :) ). If you're throwing 50K or more at a site, you'll see dozens if not a hundred or so within 24 hours. If just 20K or so, you'll still see a significant increase within 24 hours. It's only when you get down to the hundreds, or low K that it takes a while for them to show.

Also, if it's of interest, persistence around 20-25K typically snags a PR5.. though that's not guaranteed, just my observations.

    Cheers,

    JL

    Hey guys,

I forgot to mention that I did also check MSN for back links to the site. I thought it would be more reliable to check via the actual ads network text file where all the sites are stored.

Also I have about 10 ads, on one of my ad's I'm placing 56,943 weight on just that one and have not been able to notice anything. I created those ad's about 5 days ago.

Thanks for all your help :)

MSN may take 2 weeks or so to show backlinks. They aren't showing all of them now a days either. I know Shawn is working on stats for us to view, so those will be an easier way to check when they go up.

    Wendy,
MSN shows backlinks as soon as a page is cached into their database so it we can't put a date on their back link checker becuase it's instant. (unlike G!).

True, but what I was trying to say is that from experience, msn is not reporting all the backlinks like they used to, and it looks like they are only showing a sampling, so they may not be the most accurate anymore.

Hmmm, I haven't noticed anything like that within MSN. They do tend to flactuate a little bit but I haven't noticed them hide and bl's like G! does.

The above info comes from my every day checks, I do not have any hard evidance at this time but I may test it out if I have some time later this coming week. Won't be a very long test and MSN cached pages prety quick.

    Me again :)

It's been about 8 days since I enabled my ads :) lol and for some reason I still don't see the site within the ad_network_ads.txt file :(.

Do you guys think my ads should have started showing up by now? or do you think I'm doing something wrong?

Here is how i created the ad, not sure if there's anything wrong with it:

    Ad Type: Text
Theme: Computers/Technology (not that it matters atm since it's not being used)
Language: English (don't think this is being used either ?)
    Anchor Text: My Anchor Text
Designation URL: http://www.myurl.com/ (the full URL is in there)
Description: A small description is entered about the site.

Any help would be greatly apprecaited.

    Thanks.

This might sound like a dumb question, but what does it mean to enable ads? Are they disabled by default? Thanks.
