I mean they can at any time fire a dispute at PayPal and get a full refund. Is there any policy that addresses the maximum of time after payment that the fund can by no means be refunded in any way thus secure in my account? Thanks!
Generally Paypal has a 45 day limit for a buyer to file a dispute, but this can be extended in some circumstances. Also, if the person paid with a credit card through Paypal, Visa & Mastercard allow 180 days for the person to make a chargeback, but most banks limit this to a somewhat lower amount. I would say that after 180 days the money is safe. Beyond 45 days is generally safe, but there is still a slight chance they can make a dispute between 45 and 180 days.
Thanks! It's my first time to get payments through paypal, and what they all say is paypal is becoming more and more unsafe in terms of refunding for merchants. I'm starting to get a little discouraged. =) Thanks anyway!
As long as you accept credit card payments, there is a possibility of a chargeback as it is a feature provided by the bank to their credit card customers. The good thing is that most customers are honest and that is why we can make a living online. There will inevitably be a few bad hats around though. However, what is important is to keep your customers happy and only deal with people you can trust. The type of customers you have and the product you sell would pretty much determine the risk you will encounter.
A lot of merchants and processors allow refunds/disputes on charges up to 60 days old. For chargebacks the policy is set by the customers bank/credit card.
Thanks for the clarifications. I was just trying to set up an affiliate program and the payout is via PayPal, seems I'll have to set a time span of at least 45 days before paying my warriors..
Make sure your "Warriors" know this before they sign up to be your "Warriors"(Affiliates)... lol @ "Warriors"
Thanks and I will of course. =) I hate coming into dispute with business partners so I like make things clear before everything takes place.
