Currently, in my state: North Carolina, USA the minimum wage is 6.55/hour An average person will theoreticly bring home per month: 6.55 minimum wage x 40 hours/weekly = 262 - 25% income tax = 196.50 USD monthly @ 160 hours, return a net income(after tax)= $786 USD That's for an average hard working American and I mean 'hard' 160 hours/month, just to bring home $786/month -- After paying Uncle Sam. What country in this world, where an average person can work 20 hours/week, 80 hours/month doing nothing beside some minor rountine website checkup, and bring home $700/month... Yet still complaining (especially when the world's economy is down and down right now). Here's my advice: don't be greedy, prove me wrong.
I suppose you might be working more in your day job to earn maybe little more than that, so that is the motivation here
I'm curious. Is the $700 net or gross? I would spend $200 a month on adwords, make $800 from adsense to net $600 a month. There was also my server expense so my net was less than $600.
I am spending more than 30 hours per week and full time on saturdays and sundays but still I have ummeasurable motivation with adsense...
ah yes, a competitor that tried to get my AdSense account terminated through a thread he created, and even bumped the thread, now wants to know whether it is net or gross. How many user ID's do you have here?
very impressive. if you look at other hobbies, like scrapbooking or building models, they can have just as huge time committments without any monetary payout. so your $700 is a bonus, as long as you're having fun. if you don't enjoy it, it's not really a hobby!
as you live in phillipines $700 is not bad amount their . secondly it always takes time to get success on internet . So start 2-3 new projects that you feel give you more revenues and after few time these projects might start paying you also ... however 99% of affiliates never cross $100 , you are lucky you are sustaining at $700 ... But thats true for other businesses too .. however best about affiliate marketing is you dont need to invest must .
Do you make $35 an hour at your regular job? I know I dont, so i'm pretty sure that would be motivation enough
hmmm... who failed at math? $35 a hour 20 hours a week is technically multiplied by 4.3 to get a monthly amount of 86 hours (since there is slightly more than 4 weeks in a month). How does $700 divided by 86 hours equal $35 an hour?
Well are you counting both maintaining the site and adsense work in your hourly computation? Some view site maintenance as separate.
filipina, definitely hang in there. You are doing pretty well having bounced back. Having said that, I can understand your frustrations. I recently sold a big site of mine which was making good money (~ $1,000 per month), but taking 2-4 hours per day from me, in addition to a full-time job. It was just too much, so I had to cut it loose. Ultimately, I think it's a decision you'll have to make. Of course, it is 100% possible you can increase the income. But, at what cost? I guess those are things only you can decide.
Well, if it takes so much time as 80-90 hours month doing only $700 then leave it. And you do it 4 years with such schedule ? Something not ok there. I'll switch to affiliate marketing and that's it. At least you control more variables, like percent of sale for example.
Income is relatively, some people satisfied some don't, if you feel tired with US$700.00 just quit, find the other job, we should doing something for fun, perhaps you could earn 25K per month, good luck. As a pensioner I will happy to get that amount.
