when i graduated from college i was so pissed that their where no jobs, partly due to outsourcing now i out source screw it there is no stopping it so might as well profit of it
I do think companies which out source a lot of labor should not have the same benefits as an all American company because technically they whatever % foreign outsourcing has made a mockery of the trickle down economic theory, which is so dear to the republican party give more money to the wealthy and they will create jobs for the poor now they give money to the wealthy and they create jobs in the third world which is cool if you live in the third world, but I don't so I am looking out number 1
So, in short, you think government should punish a company based upon its decisions where it hires people? If I am a governor of Minnesota, then..should I be able to punish Walmart since the majority of its employees are not in my state? Take it a step further, should government look at the books of every company out there, and if they make too much profit - punish them for not hiring enough employees to eat up some of that profit?
umm, no but government should not subsibize and give the same tax benefits to companies who ship jobs over seas Overseas labor don't help pay the taxes here in the US its not a state thing its a country thing "if they make too much profit - punish them for not hiring enough employees to eat up some of that profit?" what are you talking about? I also think government contracts should be given to companies who pay taxes and have workers in the US People say oh then they will cost more , like the savings gets passed right along to us, bunch of BS
The quick facts are that the US gains more jobs from outsourcing than it loses. The jobs we gain are typically a lot better than the ones that are lost. The vast majority of outsourcing jobs lost are the lowpaying manufacturing jobs; this is usually caused by our laws that increase the cost of labor for employers (forced benefits, higher minimum wages etc). The jobs we gain are a lot better than those that go away. While I have problems with manufacturing jobs leaving the US (afterall, our manufacturing sector is what won WW2); it is almost inevitable in this day and age that they go to developing countries who have more lax regulations. Outsourcing accounts for less than 1% of job loss. Its not something to be very concerned about as a whole. Improvements in technology would probably make the jobs go away anyways at some point. What's the difference? I, as governor of MN, am only looking out for #1 too. My state's workers. I could care less if MS or FL gets people employed. I only care if my state's unemployment rate goes down. In the end, outsourcing is a benefit to everyone - it keeps prices lower (who wants to pay $10 to make something, when it can be made for $2 elsewhere) - so consumers are happy cuz they have more buying power and since the company would supposedly sell more, it can open more stores and employ more people in better jobs that it could before.
"The jobs we gain are typically a lot better than the ones that are lost. " I think thats fantasy, we are losing 12-20.00 hr manafacturing jobs and 35-60,000 dollars a year programming jobs I don't really know where we are gaining jobs other then service industry, which are not as good. Where do you think we gaining jobs at? "Outsourcing accounts for less than 1% of job loss." I think it is much higer in tech and manafacturing sector, "What's the difference? I, as governor of MN, am only looking out for #1 too. My state's workers. I could care less if MS or FL gets people employed. " Umm, everyone would still be paying federal taxes to help pay for the wars that need to fought and prisons that need to built "In the end, outsourcing is a benefit to everyone - it keeps prices lower (who wants to pay $10 to make something, when it can be made for $2 elsewhere) - so consumers are happy cuz they have more buying power and since the company would supposedly sell more," but if you don't have a job then it doesn't matter how cheap you can buy stuff at walmart.
