In my experience I would only hire a SEO expert if they are going to garentee some results for the xxx - xxxx payments. Anyone charging for a service that can not produce positive results that are easily reported is not worth hiring. With so many people across the globe in many different economic environments yet with the same skills for SEO, you need to base your decision on the results shown from previous work and not by the cost alone. I have had people charge way less than 280 a month and get great results. The 280+ a month companies charge this because they feel that they have the market cornered and can get away with that kind of pricing. Again I say, other less expensive economies allow for less expensive solutions. People in those economies can have the same skill and knowledge to get you listed with good results, you just need to search to find them. I would recommend going to a place like Rentacoder.com or scriptlance.com to get bids from SEO people since the results here are not coming up too positive for you. Please remember to request a portfolio of previous work that includes a month by month review of their work and how it improved in the engines you are interested in SEO.
