I never bothered to read this thread till now.

I must say Shawn you earn bloody good money for an affiliate.
I'd love to be earning that much - I'm chuffed to be earning what I do from adsense, but I think I'll take a closer look at AM (I've been there before, but perhaps another quick squiz).

I certainly don't earn what you do from my online endeavours - (though like yourself, biz comes first). Disclosure is inspirational. But the time in which you've managed it. You must have some pretty hefty resources to do that, networks aside :)

I'm a student. I surfed the net and came across the whole idea of the affiliate programs. That's how it started.

I simply cannot even fathom this. I put in a nice solid 50 hours a week or so which is a great balance for me (to still have some fun time) and I'm happy to be less than 1/5 of what Shawn makes with AM alone! Great Job!

Shawn - Roughly what % of your income on the ccapplication and sendwu sites is affiliate income versus AdSense, if you dont mind me asking?

Wow, I've been so busy launching new programs I had not checked this thread for awhile. Nice to see it's still going. Plus it's so cool to read everyone's stories, background and how they got started. What a great way to get to know everyone over here!

    Thanks for sharing!

I was looking to monetize on fast numbers of traffic. Even with descent conversion rates (online retailing) I wanted to squeeze more pennies out of hard earned traffic. We spend money on acquiring traffic mainly through AdWords, plus invest a lot of time in growing natural listings on SE's so I figured we might as well earn more from the traffic with an affiliate exit strategy.

Starting carefully as to not scaring them away from our main business, being online reatil on our own shops, I found ways to nicely complement own content with affiliate links.

Most impressed with eBay's more than generous registration commission. Don't know exactly how they can justify it but hey, I aint complaining :) ! Amazon is second favourite, AdSense third.

Yupp! You can download the "Affiliate Masters Course" from my website at http://www.odlablommor.com/Aff-Masters.zip It wont cost you a single cent to download and it´s written in english so you wont need a translator.

I found out about affiliate programs about 2-3 years ago. I´ve been banging my head against the wall until I found this course. Now I feel I´m on the right track.

    interesting thread;

Me? I actually started out on the web as a Retailer and after a year i was FLAT BROKE!

and noticed one of my competitors had a link for affiliates, started reading and reading and reading... changed my retailer site into a content driven affiliate site and i found my new home. Income fluctuates between $4k and $9k... huge flux...

my original site makes 95% of my income and it is an industry i know quite a bit about...

Still reading and studying daily and starting new sites in other industries. 15 live sites to date. I get side tracked from my original ideas and in turn, i think, has held me back in some ways. However the side tracking is learning new technology and i think in the long run will be beneficial.

2005 goal - Stay Focused on the sites i already have!

I used to be a webmaster for an ecommerce site and was impressed with some of the affiliate checks I was cutting every month. So I started my own affiliate site. At first it was just a directory of sorts, with static pages and links. I paid $10 a month to host at a hosting company. Now, three years later, I run 25+ datafeed driven sites on my own IIS and SQL servers out of my house, pulling in ~600+ uniques a day.

This post inspired me when I read it well over a year ago and that inspiration has stayed with me.

The course Magiana talks about is what got me started in affiliate marketing...I built two websites and then met Chris Sanderson (from AMWSO) by mistake...I ended up with a job as an Affiliate Manager after talking with him for half an hour!

My income is building with my websites but i just don't have enough hours in the day to take them to the next level...Still to break 3 figures monthly...Come mighty close though...

    haha, no problem :)

still keeping up with it. my income hasn't increased dramatically (although it is significantly higher than what I first mentioned in this thread), but that's mostly because of laziness I suppose.

I've got so many site ideas. just a matter of getting them done, which tends to take me a long time because I work in spurts.

my newest site is getting 20K/uniques a day (over 200,000 pageviews/day). it's about 3 months old and almost none of the traffic is from search engines (either PPC or natural). not too bad, eh? just need to replicate that a few dozen times over :)

i recently graduated college and started working doing Internet Marketing ror a company. I learned alot so i decided to build my own site to make some extra income. Now the company i am working for is starting their own affiliate program and I am running it. It's very exciting. Now the hard part is finding affiliates to join the program. Anyone have suggestions?

I have a similar work style. The good part about it is that, by the time I am happy with a site, it's just about out of the sandbox already. :D

I am incredibly jealous. My current #1 site is only now crossing the 10k/uniques per day mark!

if it makes you feel better, the traffic that's coming to this site isn't worth much at all-- there's just lots of it.

I was just really impressed at how much it took off. it's cliche but true: build useful content and users will follow. even without the search engines. nice ego boost too, to see someone make threads in forums all over the place talking about how awesome your site is

I would kill for 50 unique visitors to my site everyday. Still waiting to get out of the google sandbox.

It's amazing when I hear about people starting out so young.
