This has been troubling my mind lately – why are most affiliates failing online? Look do not think I am ‘guru’ affiliate myself but I want to hear your thoughts, which I believe will be of great benefits to me and OTHERS as well.

So can you kindly tell me between 5 – 10 (or more) reasons most affiliates are failing online.

Please let me hear from you.

    Thanks.

    Here are some ideeas:
    1. they give up too fast
    2. don't have the right info
    3. they go for niches that are too competitive for beginners
    4. they read too many ebooks instead of working
    5. no testing/changing/adjusting their websites/campaigns

Just what I was thinking at the moment :) Good luck!

very very true, always test, doesn't work, change it, test again. You have to keep look into your stat and find out the reason why

    Here is even more:

    6. They don't know what is a geniune program and a scam
    7. Alot of people start earning from PTR and PPC Search Engines where there is alot of scamming and because of this they think general affiliate programs are probably the same.
    8. They don't promote their site enough
    9. They don't optimize the affiliate ads on their site good enough
    10. They sometimes don't understand that you have to spend money to make money.

They don't read, study, learn, practice, internalize and apply what it really takes to be a successful affiliate marketer.

It's not brain surgery, but these need to be done to have a successful "operation".

And it seems most do not exercise enough patience to succeed online. Do you agree...?

They don't realize that most times you have to take one step backward (as in losing money) to take 2 steps forward (learning through testing).

There is only one reason - most of them have no traffic.

i think the biggest failure is thinking the money is EASY and quick. It takes work time and testing.

Does it have to take a long time? I mean really?

Or does it just take MASSIVE action? I made $20,000 in my first month, admittedly most of it did not come in the form of affiliate sales, but all of it came through the results of Internet Marketing. I made even more my second month.

I just didn't choose to wait. I found the best information I could, the best resources I could find, bugged the hell out of everyone who would help me, applied, applied and applied what I learned, and had massive successes.

So, I'm not entirely convinced that you have to work long for success. Hard, yes. But, not necessarily long. Plus if you can outsource some of your work, you're doing even better. I outsourced content creation, domain creation, directory submission, article submission, even some niche research work.

But, I also come from a business background. And took IM seriously as a business. I have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for businesses, that brought me in 1/4 of what I paid in net yearly income, and considered that a success. If I have to spend $5,000 to bring in $10,000 and make $5,000 in income, it just makes sense to me. Although I spent less than $2,000 to make the $20k.

I'm currently flirting with that $100/day affiliate income in less than 60 days. So, it doesn't have to take too long.

    Just my thoughts.

Ok you say you earn $20,000. But how much are your costs?

    What is your net profit?

They don't take affiliate marketing as a real business, and don't believe that they can actually make money or a living.

    Desperate situation...

Well, keep in mind I mentioned most of that was NOT affiliate income. So, I would say hard costs for the month were less than $1,000. For my affiliate income, I'm spending about $25 to make the $100 a day. I posted more about it on my blog, and even more on Wealthy Affiliate in response to questions.

    1. Lack of patience.
    2. Greed -- trying to do too many things too soon without having the experience and full understanding of details.
    3. Lack of testing competitive offers. Some merchants do test and optimize pages; others don't. The key is selecting the right merchant/pages to sent the traffic to.
    4. Stupidity and falling prey to scams. An affiliate emails me recently about 20,000 "extremely targeted" clicks he brought at 50% off for $19.99 that generated no revenue looking for an explanation.
    5. Not trying to get free natural search traffic -- very difficult but the best traffic there is especially for beginners.

    - Using inverted pyramid to promote online: it is important to get traffic then began to add prodcust and services related to targted audience.
    - did not have knowlege about how to promote online
    - affiliate marketing people need money in the short term
    - no patience
    - they thing that affiliate is the easy way to make money and just add some affiliate links and account will be increase dramatically with an automatic system working for them 24/24 7/7 365/ 365 for spending just half an hour per week.

I think pretty much like everone else...
    no patiance
    afraid of "loosing money"
    buy to many stupid ebooks
not advertising in the right places
fall for the "get rich quick" mentality

Not very well obviously, I've only had one person buy a membership through my link. And no one has bought beating adwords. I don't promote any other IM related service. I kind of feel like the field is cannibalistic. Everyone feeds on everyone else. Same old rehashed BS being repackaged, and resold time and time again. I do promote WA, because I believe in it. I feel it's the most down to earth, best resource for learning IM.

I bought beating adwords because yes everything is there in WA. But, I'm not like most IM noobs who buy ebook after ebook. I had never bought an IM ebook. So I was having problems with Adwords, and I just am not patient enough to wait for Carson/Kyle to get back to me. I bought the book, two hours later I was back on track. I suppose I could have gotten everything that was in the book right on the board, but who has six hours to search for what you need and to read it. And no you don't get the ebooks for free.
