affiliate tracking - without an affiliate code

    Hi

I signed up as affiliate with a travel company and they sent me the code to add to my site. The code (for a search form) and text links they have given me include no affiliate code/tracking information.

When I asked how they would monitor results they told me they can simply track all queries that originate from my site without the need for affiliate code to be added.

Sounds good...but is it? Can they really do this effectively, and if so why don't all affiliate companies do the same?

    Cheers

Honestly, it sounds sketchy. All tracking is left to the honesty of the network however, this requires a lot of faith. It's true that they can track the site where every visitor origionates - however, i'm not sure how easy it is to track where each sale origionates. Even more importantly, most affiliate networks give a cookie which means that repeat traffic or if a visitor comes back to a particular site later, you're given credit for that commission.

No tracking = No Cookie = Low commissions!

Thanks, that sounds pretty much what I was concerned about
Good point about the cookie, I didn't think of that
    Cheers!

definitely AVOID that program unless you want to work and not being paid.
the "referral" way is not even near a safe way to track an affiliate, looks more like a scam, may be you can post which site is doing that so we can check it ourselves to be sure the affiliate variable is or not in the code

    good luck

There definitely is no tracking in the code they've given me - no url variables, no hidden variables in the form etc, even they have confirmed it.

Looks like one to avoid then!

    Cheers
